KIJIN PARK

Kijin Park was born 1975 and majored in ‘sculpting’ in a post-graduate course of Chung-Ang University. The artist started exhibiting his art with a solo exhibition entitled ‘Dive to the Kaikoura’ in 2006.  He was a 2009-2010 Freeman Foundation ‘Asian Artists’ Fellowship Winner, which led him to hold another solo exhibition called “A Plaintive Glacier” at the Red Mill Gallery in Vermont. 2011, he had a solo exhibition ‘Discovery’. The show was supported by the Sema ‘Emerging Artist Program’ and the Space Gallery. He has been a member of seven different residency programs that include the Institution Sacatar(Brazil), Vermont Studio Center (USA) and The Art Studio of Goyang ( National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea).  He was also a beneficiary of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture and other domestic as well as foreign artist support programs.  He is currently working at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin.

 

 

 

My work is informed by an overarching narrative that has sprung from my personal knowledge and experience in the fields of geography, anthropology and ecology. These three fields have so far been explored through my travels to diverse places around the globe, through a variety of landscapes.
